Purpose of the Job

To transport and participate in the burial of the deceased in an empathetic and professional manner.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Collect and deliver the deceased.
  • Ensure that all death certificates are collected and delivered timeously.
  • Deliver and accept death notices and death certificates to and from Home Affairs.
  • Fulfill all the duties of a Funeral Attendant as required by the Funeral Director and Sexton (Gabbai).
  • Collect and deliver goods, staff members and provide any other delivery service required by management.
  • Provide assistance in emergency situations and perform duties allocated by the burial society.
  • Ensure that stock levels are maintained at all times.
  • Assist with general duties around the cemetery.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of Jewish customs and cultures is essential
  • Must be able to work on Sundays and Public Holidays and be on standby when required
  • Must be able to work after hours in emergency cases
